Hatfield Cemetery Chapel
Heritage Open Day: Our small 30-seat Grade II listed cemetery chapel dates from 1894 and is only used a few times each year for funeral services. We believe it is a unique and important part of our local heritage so would like people to be able to look inside! The Chapel was built to be opened with the cemetery in 1894 and has been used since then for small funeral services. It is a non-denominational chapel seating a cosy 30 and retains most of it's original features including 2 sets of sturdy double doors and a beamed wooden ceiling. It has recently undergone restoration work to the floor to ensure the building is preserved for future use. As it is not used regularly the Council decided to participate in Heritage Open Day to give people a chance to look inside behind the closed doors they usually see when visiting the cemetery.
