Heritage Open Day: Learn about Walkley, its history and its people: how, when and why did they come here and what makes them stay. Explore the links within the community and celebrate the events of the last ten years. Walkley Library is the only Carnegie Library in Sheffield and is a Grade II Listed Building, in the Tudor Revival style. It is an associate library to Sheffield Libraries, and as such is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary, run by the community for the community. It was partially built to fill the gap following the closure of the nearby Ruskin St George’s Museum. Situated in a commanding location at the major crossroad of South Road/Walkley Road at the end of the tram line from the city centre, the Library soon became a key institution for Walkley.
