Britain's What's On Event Guide
St Thomas' Church with Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust
Heritage Open Day: An opportunity to visit a Grade 2 listed Victorian gem in Batley Come and visit our church which was designed by Walter Hanstock and dedicated in 1868. Built in a Gothic Revival Style, the tower of the church is surmounted by a tall spire which is a landmark for many miles around and dominates the landscape of Upper Batley. The church is home to some of the finest stained glass windows in the area and also houses a Conacher pipe organ which is still central to our worship today. The high altar is a fine example of oak furniture by Robert Thompson, Mouseman® of Kilburn and the altar rails were crafted in oak by Martin Dutton ‘Lizardman’, formerly an apprentice of Robert Thompson.
