Bankfield Museum
Heritage Open Day: Bankfield Museum was the former home of local textile manufacturer Edward Akroyd and his wife Elizabeth and became a free museum for the people of Halifax in 1887 following Edward's death. Bankfield Museum will be opening up to visitors on Sunday 8th September to give visitors to the area an opportunity to step inside the grand italianate mansion and enjoy the variety of its exhibitions programme, ranging from Engineers and Chocolatiers by Kate Lycett, Wild Words: Ted Hughes and the Poetry of Calderdale, Inspired: The Art of Making Historical Fashion and of course Mr Darcy's very famous shirt from Pride and Prejudice.
