High Flatts Quaker Meeting House

Heritage Open Day: Appreciate the history and setting of the 365-year-old High Flatts Quaker Meeting House which is a grade II listed building along with its surroundings and panoramic views to the East. Very early Quaker meeting house, c. 1653. Situated in a hamlet which was, until recently, exclusively Quaker owned. The building is built in local stone and can offer spectacular views of the rolling countryside. Guided nature tours of the area are available upon request, featuring reflections upon local historical agriculture and rural industry, along with a look at a 1932 typhoid epidemic and the original village water supply driven by water power.

2024 is a special year in Quaker history, for it is the 400th anniversary of the birth of George Fox who is recognised as the founder of Quakerism.
