Exhibition of Local Heritage Photographs and Information
Heritage Open Day: We will have displays from the archives of various local historians besides our own. Two viewings of our virtual video tour of Morley Town Hall will be shown. Members will be available to answer questions on Heritage, Family History. Morley Public Library is a Grade 2 listed building which was opened in 1906 with a grant from the Carnegie Trust. We'll show how a local, Councillor W.L. Ingle made a request for this grant with other details of its beginnings.
The wonderful archive of David Atkinson belongs to Leeds Libraries and many examples from this will be shown. In particular we will display examples of local personalities and transport in the area over the years. Much of his work has been digitised and catalogued into a searchable format.
