St John the Evangelist Church, Upper Hopton.
Heritage Open Day: St. John the Evangelist, consecrated in 1846, is an attractive mock Gothic church at the heart of the village of Upper Hopton, and stands next to a late Jacobean Manor House, Hopton Hall.
The Chancel, remains much as it was when designed in 1846. St. John the Evangelist is an attractive mock Gothic church designed by Bonomi and Cory in a1 5th century style, t the heart of the village of Upper Hopton. It is part of the Mirfield Team Parish.
The church stands next to a late Jacobean Manor House, Hopton Hall.
Beyond the Nave altar is the Chancel, which remains much as it was when designed in 1846. The screen separating the chancel from the nave was part of the original structure, though the Rood and Christus were added in 1951.
