Heritage Open Day: This event in the Church Institute at Outwood tells the story of that building and the church opposite and three other places of worship: St Pauls in Alverthorpe, St Peters in Stanley, and St Annes in Wrenthorpe. The Church Institute on the Leeds Road at the heart of Outwood has an interesting history of it's own having in the beginning a role as a school as well as a social centre. Many happy events for the community have been held here and to this day many groups still enjoy its facilities including Outwood pre school, scouts , cubs and brownies. A variety of events are held relating to the Churh Opposite and various other groups use it.
