Free community open day at Caton Moor wind farm & Victoria Institute
Discover how a wind farm works at a free open day at Caton Moor wind farm near Lancaster.
Perfect for the whole family, there will be lots of fun and interactive events to enjoy on the day as you go backstage at an operational wind farm!
To get to the wind farm, we will run a minibus shuttle from the local Victoria Institute in Caton (approx. 10 minute journey). Before catching the bus, you can enjoy a hot drink and refreshments at the Victoria Institute where you’ll get to know the 30 year history of the wind farm, plus activities for kids to enjoy, like face painting, wind energy games and more!
Once at the wind farm you’ll get the chance to:
• Take a self-guided tour of the site, get up close to an operational turbine and learn how it turns natural wind energy into the clean electricity that powers our homes and businesses
• Ask Thrive’s experts – find out how clean energy is helping tackle the climate emergency
Advance booking is essential and only those with reservations will be allowed on site.

10am-3.30pm .When you register for this free event, we ask that you apply for a timeslot for arrival at The Victoria Institute. This will help manage the flow of people on the day and give all visitors the best experience. In the past guests have stayed for between 1 and 2 hours.
