Britain's What's On Event Guide
Parkinson's support event @ Heather View
A care home in Crowborough is opening its doors to the community for a free Parkinson’s support event.
On Friday 27th September, from 2pm-3.30pm, local residents will have the opportunity to find out more about Parkinson’s and the support on offer for families affected by the condition at Care UK’s Heather View, on Beacon Road.
Becky Mitchener, who is a Parkinson’s Specialist Nurse, will offer helpful guidance and practical tips for improving the everyday lives of those affected by Parkinson’s, alongside useful information about local support groups and specialist services in Crowborough and surrounding areas.
There will be a question-and-answer session to give everyone the opportunity to raise individual concerns and share experiences, and attendees will also be able to meet the team at Heather View and get a better feel for what life at a care home is really like.
Natasha King, Home Manager at Heather View, said: “According to Parkinson’s UK*, two people in the UK are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease every hour. Most people diagnosed are over the age of 50, and one in every 500 will develop the condition in later life.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the community to Heather View to benefit from the specialist knowledge and expert advice on offer.”
