Communi-tea spirit: Romford funeral home hosts fundraising coffee morn
A funeral home in Romford is inviting the local community to come along to a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Co-op Funeralcare Romford is inviting local people to attend the coffee morning at its North Street location on 25 September from 10.30am - 1pm, to help raise money for those affected by cancer.
The coffee morning is part of Co-op Funeralcare Romford’s longstanding support for Macmillan Cancer Support, and will see attendees able to enjoy cakes and refreshments alongside a raffle.
The funeral home also runs a monthly bereavement café, offering a supportive space for the local community including for those who have lost loved ones to cancer. These gatherings have been held for several years and often feature unique themes, including first aid workshops and Christmas craft sessions, providing both comfort and practical support to those who attend.
Michelle Dulieu, funeral arranger at Co-op Funeralcare Romford, said: “Here at Co-op Funeralcare Romford, we know how common it is for people within our community to have been personally affected by, or to have lost loved ones to, cancer.
“Meeting others who have shared a similar experience can be incredibly comforting, and can help to establish an important support network, which is why we decided to host this coffee morning in aid of a good cause.
“As well as our coffee morning, we also encourage the local community to pop into our monthly bereavement café. Whether it’s to come along and share your story, access support during a difficult time or simply to enjoy some company alongside a brew and a slice of cake – our doors are open to the people of Romford.
“As a member-owned organisation, we’re pleased to have the opportunity to support causes close to our hearts, and we hope this event helps to bring local people together while raising much-needed funds for the vital work Macmillan Cancer Support does.”
