Hampshire History Midweek Musings – Secrets of the Solent with Jasmine

Hampshire History Trust, in partnership with Adam Architecture, is delighted to announce the next in their series of short talks on local history and heritage taking place over the coming months. These “Hampshire History Midweek Musings” start at 6pm and include a complimentary drink – so perfect for winding down after a busy day.

Jasmine is a maritime archaeologist and a project officer for the Maritime Archaeology Trust, a charity focused on the protection and promotion of maritime heritage. She has been with the Trust for 12 years, and her role includes everything from educational sessions with all ages, to creating digital resources and occasional fieldwork.

This talk explores the stories of six historic wreck sites in the Solent, five of which are ‘Protected Wrecks’. From their careers while afloat to their time underwater and rediscoveries, they compose of both naval and merchant ships and represent evolutions in shipbuilding technology against the backdrop of England as expanding maritime power. The talk also touches on how new advances in 3D technology are changing the way we investigate and understand underwater sites.

Parking is available at the venue.
