UNIQLO and MAGNUM PHOTOS Announce New Project: Global Photo Exhibition
UNIQLO, the global apparel retailer, has launched a major global photography exhibition in collaboration with internationally renowned Magnum Photos. Titled ‘PEACE FOR ALL,’ this free public exhibition has been unveiled in one of London's largest outdoor gallery spaces, Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, before making its way to over 10 major cities worldwide.
Open now until the end of October and set across the expansive 67-acre estate at King’s Cross, visitors will discover over 60 powerful images captured by acclaimed Magnum photographers Cristina de Middel, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, and Olivia Arthur. These striking photographs, captured in Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Romania, shed light on the incredible stories behind UNIQLO’s PEACE FOR ALL charity initiative.
Whether sitting down for lunch or taking a stroll, members of the public will discover the impactful photographs on double-sided panels dotted across Coal Drops Yard. The exhibition features the everyday lives of children living in Romania who fled the war in Ukraine, people living in a refugee camp in Ethiopia; and a group of female students in Vietnam participating in educational play in their school playground.
To date, this initiative has raised $10 million in profits from the sale of Uniqlo’s charity t-shirts, all of which has been donated to three humanitarian organisations — UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), Save the Children, and Plan International — whose ongoing projects are vividly portrayed in the exhibition. This initiative is designed to raise both awareness and funds for communities affected by poverty, discrimination, violence, and conflict.
In celebration of the partnership between UNIQLO and Magnum Photos, three new PEACE FOR ALL t-shirt designs will be released on 19 September, available at UNIQLO stores and online at uniqlo.com. This launch coincides with the opening of a new UNIQLO store in Coal Drops Yard on 19th September.
