Talk: Treasures in Store: A Volunteer’s Choice
This talk by Sue Ellis will explore a volunteer's choice of the treasures in store (and on display) at West Berkshire Museum, asking the question Why have museums? and exploring this question through the artefacts which have been chosen, looking at what they tell us about history, about ourselves, and about our culture and the society in which we live.
Sue Ellis is a local historian, a committee member of both Thatcham Historical Society and West Berkshire Heritage Forum, whose interests in history and heritage range widely from prehistory to the modern day and encompass archaeology and architectural history. She works as a volunteer at West Berkshire Museum cataloguing the library collection.
Bookings close at 4pm the day before the talk.
This talk complements the Volunteers’ Choice special exhibition.
