Britain's What's On Event Guide
Birmingham care home invites community to fundraising event
A local care home is inviting the community to join them for a coffee morning to raise vital donations for a very worthwhile cause.
Guests are invited to join residents at Care UK’s Metchley Manor, on Church Road, on Friday 27 September and spend the morning enjoying tasty treats baked by the home’s Head Chef to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people living with cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990 over £310 million has been raised for the charity, enabling it to support individuals from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
Kim Marie Newton, General Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We’re excited to invite everyone to our upcoming coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. It’s a wonderful chance for us to come together as a community, enjoy some delicious treats, and raise funds for a cause that’s close to our hearts.
At Metchley Manor, we know the profound impact a cancer diagnosis can have, whether through personal experience or through a loved one, and we are always eager to support Macmillan’s vital work.
We look forward to welcoming friends, family, and everyone in the community for a fun and meaningful morning, all in aid of such an important initiative.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Metchley Manor, which remains open to potential residents, incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The building has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
