Kintsugi for Beginners workshop at Burleigh Pottery Middleport

Kintsugi Craft Workshop for Beginners

Accidentally breaking a piece of pottery of sentimental value does not mean it is lost forever. Using the principles of the Ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi (golden joinery), it offers us a technique whereby we can recycle our broken pottery pieces through repairing them with gold creating an even stronger more beautiful piece of art. The philosophy of Kintsugi is that the value of an object is not in its beauty but in its imperfections, and these imperfections are something to celebrate not hide.

In this workshop you will:

- discover the ancient art of Kintsugi in a fun and creative way

- create beautiful ceramic pieces to take home

- learn how to repair broken pottery with gold, thereby embracing the cracks to make unique
pieces of art

- be given your own toolbox which will contain all the items you need for this workshop

This Kintsugi Craft Workshop for Beginners will be held at Burleigh Pottery and includes a presentation from Burleigh Company Historian and Retail Manager, Jemma Baskeyfield.
A 10% discount voucher is available to all participants for use on the day in the Burleigh Factory Shop!

A cream tea will also be provided by The Packing House Café which is on site at Middleport!

Your Kintsugi pieces will make beautiful mementoes of the day which can be used as ornaments or as gifts
