Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub

Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub was founded in December 2009 and is a good way for people from all walks of life to hear from experts and discuss with them important issues that affect us all, while enjoying their favourite beverage. Meetings are held every third Monday of the month at Farm Road Sports & Social Club, Farm Road, Sheffield S2 2TP from 7.30 pm. There is no need to book and no entrance fee, but a voluntary donation of £3 is welcome to cover speaker's expenses and room hire. Parking is free.

Our October 2024 event, 'Apostasy in the UK', is hosted by Sheffield Humanists. George Askwith will be speaking about her experience growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, in conversation with others who have also left their faith. She will also talk about the work of Faith to Faithless, a section of Humanists UK supporting people who are leaving high-control religions. George was a speaker at their first ‘Apostasy Conference’ in 2021.

George has a PhD in early Christianity, and has also researched the experiences of those from high-control religions.
This event is on Monday October 21st at 7.30 pm. No charge, but donations welcome.
