Britain's What's On Event Guide
Grayshott Folk Club introduces: BELLA HARDY (with Jenn Butterworth)
Bella Hardy is a top Folk Fiddler/Singer. From the age of 13, she has appeared at prestigious Folk Festivals such as Sidmouth and Cambridge and has continued to evolve and develop her style ever since. Steeped in the Tradition, Bella has absorbed influences from further afield and in particular, she learnt the songs of Chinese farmers during her time as British Council Musician in Residence in Yunnan Province.
With the ability to conjure and twist stories that call straight to the heart, her themes of displacement and home, lost and found love, heartache and joy, are delivered with her unique and disarming honesty, and of course the acclaimed crystalline voice that won her the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year Award 2014.
Bella has new music to share with us and she will shortly be releasing her new album.
As an appetiser for that new album, Bella released a single in February 2024 which is her version of a Traditional song called:
“Shepherds Are The Cleverest Lads”

This sits comfortably alongside her older songs, which include the sublime Herring Girl:

On this much-anticipated and long-awaited tour, Bella will be accompanied by good friend and gifted guitarist, Jenn Butterworth.
Together, they will be a potent and entertaining musical force and we are delighted they will be visiting Grayshott Folk Club as part of this tour.
Don't miss them.
