Temenos Chamber Choir, conducted by Patrick Craig, will perform music by Stanford and Holst. Stanford died 100 years ago this year, and Holst was born exactly 150 years ago, so it's appropriate to mark both these anniversaries with performances of some of their large output of choral music.
Stanford's 3 Latin Motets are well-known, but in addition to these lovely pieces, the choir will sing his stunning double-choir setting of the Magnificat, and some exquisite English motets.
Holst was a pupil of Stanford, and the choir will sing some of his a capella works, such as the beautiful Nunc Dimittis and Ave Maria.
