Britain's What's On Event Guide
Andrew Ziminski - Churchgoing
Churches are many things to us - they are places of worship, vibrant community hubs and oases of calm reflection. To know a church is to hold a key to the past that unlocks an understanding of our shared history. Andrew Ziminski has spent decades as a stonemason and church conservator, acting as an informal guide to curious visitors. He will give an illustrated talk on his new book, Church Going.
Over the past thirty years Andrew Ziminski has worked as a stonemason from his base in Frome, Somerset on some of our greatest monuments. From repairs to a megalithic burial chamber and the reconstruction of a Roman temple façade to an Anglo-Saxon shrine and Salisbury's medieval cathedral Andrew's craft skills and knowledge have been put to good use.
Andrew's first book was The Stonemason: A History of Building Britain.
