Kipps - The New Half a Sixpence Musical
Following last year’s tremendous success with 'Evita', this year Chipping Norton Amateur Operatic Society (CHAOS) are performing 'Kipps – The New Half a Sixpence Musical' in April at Chipping Norton Theatre. Many of last year’s cast have returned to build on their success. The part of Kipps is being shared by Paul Cox and Alfie Arnold, who is making his debut with the society. Other principals include Lucy Bibby playing Ann, Sophie Bell taking the part of Helen Walsingham, Tim Widdows returning as James Walsingham and Bethan Jenkins as Mrs Walsingham. Bryan Jones is making his CHAOS debut as Chitterlow, performing alongside many other familiar faces. Catrin Russ is our outstanding musical director and Fiona Bates our dynamic choreographer.
A light-hearted tale of a draper’s assistant who inherits a fortune, the show was originally a vehicle for Tommy Steele who filmed part of it at Blenheim Palace. It was adapted for a new production in 2016 at Chichester. Well-known songs include 'Flash Bang Wallop', 'If the rain’s got to Fall', 'Half a Sixpence' and 'Money to Burn'. Rehearsals are going extremely well and we are excited to perform this uplifting show in our much-loved town theatre.
CHAOS is grateful for the support of Chipping Norton Town Council in bringing this production to the stage.
