Nature Journaling Workshop
Have you wanted to create a nature journal but don’t know where to start or how to do it? This workshop will - hopefully - fix that. Artist and designer Steve Pardue will take you through the process in this fun session drawing nature.
Even a place as simple as a garden can provide some really lovely and interesting sightings and the centre here has some lovely nature right on the doorstep. And, it is not just the really spectacular stuff we look for - red kites for instance - but the little things such as beetles and slugs, and there is always a slug lurking somewhere!
Steve will provide a concertina sketchbook which which will allow you to start drawing directly with a fine liner pen onto the paper - scarily no pencils and rubbers involved! Why do I encourage this? Well pencils are great but you can rub a pencil out and what I am wanting is for people to just get on with the drawing and not worry about making mistakes as you can’t rub ink out! After a little while nobody is worrying about perfection and simply draw without inhibition and this encourages real focus and an enjoyment in making marks on paper.
We will also add colour using the watercolour sets I will bring along for us to share. It is all very simple and enjoyable. Don’t worry if you haven’t drawn before or for a long time - this is about looking at nature and recording it in your own way.
