Ely Consort - Bach to the Future! - Music for choir, piano & violin
The renowned international violinist Steve Bingham, stevebingham.co.uk/, joins us in a performance of Bach’s choral masterpiece Jesu, meine Freude, interspersed with movements from his partitas and sonatas for solo violin. Other choral works will include Aaron Copland’s much-loved Old American Songs, Eric Whitacre’s beautiful Five Hebrew Love Songs and Morten Lauridsen's sublime Sure on this shining night.
As a classical violinist, Steve has performed worldwide as a soloist and orchestral leader with several leading ensembles, but alongside this he has developed a reputation for performing ground-breaking works which combine solo violin music with a wide variety of electronics and live-looping technology.
