About this Event
Untethered
n celebration of the month dedicated to women, Cris Contini Contemporary is proud to present UNTETHERED, a solo exhibition by artist Alexis Walters that explores the themes of memory, identity, and transformation.
UNTETHERED is an intimate journey towards reconciling with one's inner child, a path that brings to light a creativity that had been suspended. Through the use of suspended garments, the artist evokes memory and its power to transform the past into something new. Each work originates from a process of metamorphosis: the past is not merely preserved, but reworked, infusing it with new energy and meaning.
The deep blue of the cyanotype on Arches paper envelops the works in an ethereal atmosphere where time seems suspended. The contrast between blue and white becomes a powerful metaphor for transformation, balance between presence and absence, memory and renewal. The cyanotype process, with its contact-impression and light development, strengthens the connection between image and memory, capturing traces that resurface with delicacy and intensity.
UNTETHERED is an invitation for reflection, a bridge between past and present, between what we have been and what we could become. This exhibition explores the theme of loss, while also celebrating the power of transformation and renewal—resonating deeply with the spirit of March, traditionally dedicated to women.
The exhibition will be open from March 14th to 29th, 2025 at Cris Contini Contemporary, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in an artistic experience that invites self-discovery through art.
