Oxfam Folk Evening
Following our first successful Folk Evening, Bakewell Oxfam Group presents:
Another amazing Folk Evening at The Medway Centre, Bakewell April 8th 7.30
The evening highlights Rare Occasion featuring Judy Dunlop with Jon Scaife on guitar and Nigel Corbett on violin. Judy Dunlop remains one of traditional and contemporary British folk music’s top vocalists. She has produced albums including ‘Sway with Me’ and ‘My Arms are a Cradle’.
They are supported by Rakestone and Robyn Wallis Johnson. Rakestone are a five-piece folk band who sing contemporary songs written by the likes of Richard Thompson and Karine Polwart; traditional songs and songs of their own, interspersed with high energy, boot stomping Celtic tunes.
Robyn Wallis Johnson who was inspired by the late 1960’s singer song-writers and whose songs also reflect modern influences, her music being both gutsy and sentimental. Robyn captivates audiences with her tales of life, love, loss and liberation.
