About this Event
End of World War Two Parade
DISS MUSEUM REOPENS.
Diss Museum doesn't just open quietly. It has become traditional to launch the new season
with a parade through the town. In recent years there was a royal visit (sort of); a
celebration of cinema complete with stars and starlets; and a political march where
suffragettes, fascists and Labour paraded side by side.
This year, we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2. It will bring
out the people who love to dress up. Expect to see forties glamour girls, spivs, and plenty
of uniforms, whether worn by air raid wardens or wing commanders. Everyone is
welcome to join in.
When the parade reaches the market place outside the museum, there will be singing,
dancing, perhaps even jitterbugging. Don't miss it.
The march kicks off at Mere's Mouth at 10.30 a.m. on March 15
