About this Event

Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub

Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub was founded in December 2009 and is a good way for people from all walks of life to hear from experts and discuss with them important issues that affect us all, while enjoying their favourite beverage. Meetings are held every third Monday of the month at Farm Road Sports & Social Club, Farm Road, Sheffield S2 2TP from 7.30 pm. There is no need to book and no entrance fee, but a voluntary donation of £3 is welcome to cover speaker's expenses and room hire. Parking is free.

The title of our March 2025 talk is ‘How Vaccines Work: Lessons from whooping cough’ and is an opportunity to hear a top expert talking about vaccination and answering any of questions you may have about this important topic. The speaker is Dr David Miles, an immunologist who has worked on diseases of childhood in Africa and the vaccinations that protect against them. His first popular science book, 'How Vaccines Work', was published in March 2023.
