Hill Walking Plus 23rd March
During the day we will discuss Mountain Hazards, decision making and moving efficiently when out hill walking.
Join me for a day on Blencathera near Keswick.
Some hill walking experience needed, we will walk and talk at a steady pace, tailored to the group.
Backpack – Comfortable, with sufficient capacity (20-30L for a day walk).
Water – At least 2L, especially in summer. Hydration pack or bottles.
Food – Snacks (e.g., energy bars, nuts), packed lunch.
First aid kit – Plasters, blister pads, painkillers, bandages and any Personal Medication.
Navigation tools – Map (OS map or printed route), compass, or GPS. (Optional)
Headtorch – With extra batteries, in case you’re out after dark.
Sun protection – Sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm.
4. Extras
Whistle – For emergency signaling.
Multitool or knife – Handy for small tasks or emergencies.
Trekking poles (optional) – Good for uneven terrain, especially on descents.
Power bank – For recharging your phone if needed.
Emergency shelter – Small bivvy bag or space blanket, especially in remote areas.
