A stunning hour-long programme combining the innovative United Strings of Europe with Gandini Juggling (a quartet of juggler-acrobats). At the heart of the programme is Vaughan Williams’ much-loved The Lark Ascending, played here in a rarely-heard chamber music arrangement. Osvaldo Golijov’s Tenebrae sets the scene for our journey before we hear music from two of today’s leading female composers: Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte and a work commissioned by the United Strings of Europe, Joanna Marsh’s Another Eden. Combining live music, movement, juggling and stagecraft, this brand new show explores our relationship with nature, developing themes of personal growth and solidarity through the beauty of movement and collaborative arts.
At 6.30pm all ticket holders are invited to attend a free 30-minute pre-concert talk, during which Chiltern Arts Creative Director Naomi Taylor will speak to United Strings of Europe’s director, Julian Askoul about the art of combining music and movement on stage.
