About this Event
Bat Walk
Join us on a nocturnal quest to see bats and their amazing aerial acrobatics!
There are at least three bat species roosting at Bore Place - common pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle and brown long-eared - and several other species have also been spotted. The estate has been managed organically for over 20 years - the lack of pesticides helps our insect populations, and these are a vital food source to help our bat populations to thrive.
After a short introduction about these fascinating little creatures, your guided night walk will take you along footpaths and around the historic buildings at the heart of the estate.
Have you ever used a bat detector? Now is your chance to have a go, listening for bat echolocating as they leave their roosts and fly out to catch insects. We also hope to spot some other wildlife – possibly deer or hares – and we might even hear owls!
