A historical walk around Sandgate to Hythe and Shorncliffe

On the 25th of May we will be strolling from the seaside town of Sandgate to visit the nearby Hythe and Shornecliffe. The walk will start at Battery Point Car Park which is a paid car park. Parking along the front is free if you can find a space. From the car park we will make our way along the coast and via the Royal Military Canal to Hythe where we will visit the intriguing church of St Leonards. On the way back we will pass through fields and woods to visit Shorncliffe and its military cemetery before descending to Sandgate. Along the way we will hear tales of brave heroes and their love of hermit women, great comedians and a mystery of a room full of bones.
