The Addison Singers Oratorio Choir presents one of the most well-loved oratorio’s in the choral repertory, Mendelssohn’s Elijah. The work depicts events from the Prophet Elijah’s life featuring large scale choruses and more intimate recitatives and arias, many of which are regularly heard as standalone arias in concerts. Inspired by great compositional masters of earlier oratorios, Mendelssohn’s work is a fulsome homage to composers such as Handel and Bach, both of which the composer revered. We look forward to sharing it with you in an arrangement for organ this Spring.
