Widow Clicquot, film

Atmospheric period drama based on the story of the remarkable woman behind the iconic yellow label on Veuve Clicquot champagne, whom you've probably never heard of.. unsung heroine Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot revolutionised the art of champagne making, with an innovation that's still at the heart of creating champagne and became one of the first great businesswomen, founding a global empire. Her champagne house Veuve (widow in French) Clicquot is the second highest selling brand of champagne in the world today.
Haley Bennett gives a sparkling performance as the fiercely determined and fascinating Barbe-Nicole, who after the untimely death of her husband (Tom Sturridge), flouts convention by taking charge of their fledgling wine business. Steering the company through dizzying political and financial reversals, she defies her critics and emerges as a trailblazing female entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest women of her time.
