Bretherton Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
A group of contrasting gardens spaced across an attractive award winning village with a conservation area. Hazelwood is a 1½ acre plant lovers paradise with herbaceous and mixed borders, kitchen and cutting garden, alpine house, sculpture gallery, pond and plant nursery. At the sculpture gallery there are usually demonstrations at 2pm. Hazel Cottages former Victorian orchard plot has evolved into a series of themed spaces while the adjoining land has a natural pond, meadow and developing native woodland. Owl Barn has herbaceous borders filled with cottage garden and hardy plants, a productive kitchen garden with fruit, vegetables and cut flowers. There are two ponds with water features and secluded seating areas.
