Following the retirement of Frank and Chris from Wear Sound, with whom he has worked on all his previous Reeth visits, he was keen to offer something different for his audience. This promises to be a memorable evening.
John Tams has been described by Mojo as ‘one of the ultimate British songwriters’, with a career involving work in every medium. A member of the Albion Band and Home Service he is perhaps best known for his work at the National Theatre and as Rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe television series.
He is a seven times winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, including an award for Best Duo, with long-time collaborator and friend, the late Barry Coope. He is the Songmaker for Warhorse, a member of the original creative team and has toured the world with the production.
Describing herself simply as a modern English musician, she is one of the most impressive, engaging, and important performers of her generation.
Eliza will be joined on the night by Jennifer Reid who performs 19th century Lancashire dialect work songs, Manchester broadside ballads and clog steps. She played Barb in Shane Meadows’ critically acclaimed period drama The Gallows Pole on the BBC. Jennifer works across academia, folk performance, heritage consultation and media to bring industrial history back to the people.
