Williamson Art Gallery & Museum

One of Wirral’s hidden gems, Williamson Art Gallery & Museum is minutes from the heart of Birkenhead.

The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum houses the principal collections of Wirral Museums Service. Our wide-ranging permanent collections include painting, sculpture, furniture, prints and decorative arts. We are proud to be home to the largest public collection of Della Robbia pottery in the UK – Birkenhead’s contribution to the Arts & Crafts movement. Meanwhile, our ship models celebrate the region’s maritime history.

We also host a range of temporary exhibitions and events.

The Williamson Café offers a range of snacks and hot and cold drinks. The Shop stocks work by local craftspeople, while the independent Oxton Books is a long-standing resident of our foyer.

The building has ramp access and is all based on one level. An accessible toilet is available.
