William Morris Society Museum
William Morris (1834 – 1896) was am important figure in Victorian Britain whose work dramatically changed the fashions and way of thinking of the era.
As a craftsman, designer, poet, printer, socialist, novelist, and environmentalist, William was not only influential in his own time, but his legacy remains alive and important today.
We organise family Arts & Crafts workshops in most school holidays and half-terms.
The William Morris Society is based in the Coach House and the basement of the Kelmscott House in Hammersmith, where he lived from 1878 until he died in 1896. There is a small museum which is open to the public on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2-5pm. The house is privately owned and the upper floors are not open to the public.
