Elsing Church PCC

St Mary’s Church Elsing is a 14th Century building.
It was built by a local knight, Sir Hugh Hastings.
Sir Hugh Hastings is buried there and commemorated with a long brass figure in full armour which is if national importance.
The Church has a tall medieval font cover which is highly decorated with figures in niches around it.
There are a set of 8 painted panels on the rood screen dado.
St Mary’s is a wide church it is single span nave roof just over 12 metres the biggest in East Anglia and one of the biggest in England.
At Mary’s is well worth a visit so much to see.
The PCC are fundraising for the repairs to the roof as the weather has got in and the plaster has come off the wall. We need to get this repaired as soon as possible, to protect all the medieval decorations and save our Church.
