The Blue Pool Nature Reserve & Tearooms
The Blue Pool Nature Reserve & Tearooms, nestled in the heart of the 300-acre Furzebrook Estate on the Isle of Purbeck, combines natural beauty with historical significance. Initially a hand-quarried clay pit from the 17th century, it was abandoned in the early 19th century and naturally filled with rainwater, creating a mesmerising blue colour due to light diffraction.
Visitors can explore over 30 acres of nature-filled paths and walkways, including the UK’s longest rope bridge, which spans 50 meters and offers stunning views. The reserve is also recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its abundant flora and fauna.
A favourite among families, the site features a magical Gnome & Fairy Trail where children can find tiny fairy doors and friendly gnomes, along with an adventure play area for young explorers.
The vintage-style Tearooms, established in 1935, retain their original charm and offer teas, coffees, cakes, lunches, and traditional afternoon teas.
